Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to practice reading comprehension skills while playing the game Uno.

Materials and Prep

  • Uno cards
  • Pen or pencil
  • Printed Uno Reading Comprehension Worksheet (optional)

Before starting the lesson, make sure you are familiar with the rules of Uno and have a deck of Uno cards ready.

Activities

  1. Introduce the game of Uno to the student if they are not already familiar with it. Explain the rules and how the game is played.
  2. Play a few rounds of Uno together, encouraging the student to read the numbers and colors on the cards as they play.
  3. After playing a round, ask the student questions about the game, such as "How many cards do you start with?" or "What happens when you play a Draw Two card?" This will help reinforce reading comprehension skills.
  4. (Optional) Provide the student with a printed Uno Reading Comprehension Worksheet. Ask them to read the questions and choose the correct answers based on their understanding of the game.
  5. Continue playing Uno, allowing the student to practice reading the cards and following the rules of the game.
