Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to practice reading comprehension skills while playing the game Uno.
Materials and Prep
- Uno cards
- Pen or pencil
- Printed Uno Reading Comprehension Worksheet (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure you are familiar with the rules of Uno and have a deck of Uno cards ready.
Activities
- Introduce the game of Uno to the student if they are not already familiar with it. Explain the rules and how the game is played.
- Play a few rounds of Uno together, encouraging the student to read the numbers and colors on the cards as they play.
- After playing a round, ask the student questions about the game, such as "How many cards do you start with?" or "What happens when you play a Draw Two card?" This will help reinforce reading comprehension skills.
- (Optional) Provide the student with a printed Uno Reading Comprehension Worksheet. Ask them to read the questions and choose the correct answers based on their understanding of the game.
- Continue playing Uno, allowing the student to practice reading the cards and following the rules of the game.
