Objective

By the end of this lesson, Gatlin will understand the meaning of Valentine's Day, learn about kindness and friendship, and create special Valentine cards to share with family and friends.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper (any color will do)
  • Crayons or markers
  • Scissors (with adult supervision)
  • Glue (if available)
  • Stickers (if available)

Before the lesson, make sure to explain what Valentine's Day is and its importance in celebrating love and friendship.

Activities

  • Story Time: Read a short story about Valentine's Day or friendship. Discuss the characters and their feelings about love and kindness.

  • Card Making: Help Gatlin create Valentine cards for family and friends. Encourage him to draw pictures and write simple messages like "I love you" or "You're my friend!"

  • Kindness Jar: Create a "Kindness Jar" where Gatlin can write down acts of kindness he can do for others. He can decorate the jar with crayons and stickers.

  • Valentine's Day Dance: Play some fun music and have a little dance party to celebrate love and friendship!
