Objective
By the end of this lesson, Wyett will understand the basics of cleaning, including the importance of cleanliness, different cleaning techniques, and how to create a cleaning schedule. Wyett will also gain hands-on experience by cleaning a designated area in the home.
Materials and Prep
- Cleaning supplies (e.g., cloths, broom, dustpan, mop, vacuum)
- Trash bags
- Labeling materials (sticky notes or markers)
- Timer (optional, can use a phone)
Before the lesson, ensure that all cleaning supplies are accessible and that Wyett has a designated area to clean, such as a bedroom, living room, or kitchen. Discuss any specific cleaning tasks that may need attention in that area.
Activities
-
Cleaning Scavenger Hunt: Create a checklist of items that need to be cleaned or organized. Wyett can go around the house and check off items as they are cleaned. This makes cleaning feel like a fun game!
-
Time Challenge: Set a timer for 15 minutes and challenge Wyett to see how much cleaning can be done in that time. This encourages speed and efficiency while making it a fun competition.
-
Label It: After cleaning, Wyett can label areas or items that need to stay organized. This can include labeling storage bins or creating a cleaning schedule, which helps maintain cleanliness.
