Objective
By the end of this lesson, Paige will have built a fun motorbike out of Lego blocks and will understand basic building concepts such as following instructions and connecting pieces together.
Materials and Prep
- Assorted Lego blocks (including wheels, base pieces, and decorative elements)
- A clear space for building
- Simple instructions or a picture of a motorbike for reference
Before the lesson, ensure that all Lego pieces are clean and sorted for easy access. Familiarize yourself with the basic structure of a motorbike to help guide Paige during the building process.
Activities
-
Building the Base: Start by selecting a flat Lego piece as the base of the motorbike. Explain to Paige that this is where the wheels will go.
-
Adding Wheels: Help Paige choose four wheels and attach them to the base. Encourage her to press down firmly to make sure they are secure.
-
Creating the Body: Use additional Lego blocks to build the body of the motorbike. Ask Paige to choose colors and shapes she likes while you assist in connecting the pieces.
-
Decorating the Motorbike: Let Paige add fun details, like a seat or handlebars. This is a great time to encourage her creativity!
-
Playing with the Motorbike: Once the motorbike is built, let Paige play with it. Encourage her to make vroom-vroom sounds and pretend to ride it!
