Objective

By the end of this lesson, Aubrey will have a deeper understanding of ancient Egyptian civilization, including its art, language, historical significance, mathematical advancements, scientific contributions, and social structure. She will create a mini-project that showcases her learning and interests in Egyptology.

Activities

• Art: Create Your Own Hieroglyphs - Aubrey will design her own hieroglyphs to represent her name or a favorite word. She can research different symbols and their meanings, then create a mini "hieroglyphic" message on paper.

• English: Write a Short Story - Aubrey will write a short story set in ancient Egypt. She can create characters like a pharaoh, a scribe, or a commoner and describe their daily lives and adventures in the context of Egyptian culture.

• History: Timeline Creation - Aubrey will create a timeline of significant events in ancient Egyptian history, including the building of the pyramids, the reign of famous pharaohs, and the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb.

• Math: Egyptian Number System - Aubrey will explore the ancient Egyptian number system and practice converting modern numbers into hieroglyphic numbers. She can create a small math puzzle for herself using these symbols.

• Science: Mummification Experiment - Aubrey can simulate the process of mummification using a piece of fruit. She will learn about the importance of mummification in ancient Egypt and observe how the fruit changes over time.
