Objective

By the end of this lesson, Lilamae will have a deeper understanding of Irish folklore, particularly the legend of St. Patrick and his connection to snakes. She will also express her creativity through art and improve her English skills by crafting a story related to the themes explored in the lesson.

Materials and Prep

Activities

  • Research and Discussion: Begin the lesson by researching the legend of St. Patrick and the story of the snakes. Discuss why snakes are significant in Irish folklore and what they symbolize.

  • Creative Drawing: After discussing the research, have Lilamae create a colorful drawing of St. Patrick banishing snakes from Ireland. Encourage her to include elements of Irish landscapes, such as rolling hills and castles.

  • Story Writing: Lilamae will write a short story or poem inspired by her drawing and the folklore discussed. Encourage her to incorporate descriptive language and her own imaginative elements.

  • Presentation: Finally, Lilamae will present her drawing and story to you, explaining her creative choices and what she learned about St. Patrick and Irish folklore.
