Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will learn about the Sydney ferry ride, including its importance, the sights to see, and how it connects people across the beautiful Sydney Harbour.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • Imagination!

Before the lesson, make sure to have a comfortable space for drawing and storytelling. You can also look up some pictures of Sydney and its ferries to share during the activities.

Activities

  • Ferry Drawing:

The student will draw their own version of a Sydney ferry. Encourage them to be creative with colors and design. Ask them to think about what the ferry looks like and what they might see while riding it.

  • Storytime Adventure:

Have the student create a short story about a ferry ride across Sydney Harbour. They can include characters, like a friendly captain or playful dolphins, and describe the sights they see along the way.

  • Ferry Facts:

Discuss some interesting facts about Sydney ferries. Ask the student to think about how ferries help people get around and why they are fun to ride.
