Objective
At the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and identify the sequence of events in Filipino narratives. They will learn how to analyze the structure of a story and apply this knowledge to their own writing and comprehension of Filipino texts.
Materials and Prep
- Notebook and pen for taking notes
- Printed short story or narrative in Filipino (can be sourced online)
- Whiteboard or large paper for brainstorming activities
- Markers or colored pens for visual activities
Before the lesson, ensure that the student has a basic understanding of Filipino vocabulary and grammar to facilitate easier comprehension of the narrative.
Activities
-
Story Mapping: The student will read a short Filipino story and create a visual map of the events. They will identify the beginning, middle, and end of the story, highlighting key events in each section.
-
Sequence Sorting Game: The student will cut out sentences from the story and mix them up. They will then work to put the sentences back in the correct order, discussing why each event follows the previous one.
-
Creative Retelling: After understanding the sequence of events, the student will choose a different ending for the story and write a short paragraph explaining their new sequence of events.
