Materials and Prep
- A pair of rollerblades
- A helmet
- Knee and elbow pads
- A smooth and safe surface for rollerblading
- Knowledge of basic rollerblading techniques
Activities
- Warm-up: Begin with a light jog or brisk walk for 5-10 minutes to prepare the body for physical activity.
- Stretching: Perform a series of dynamic stretches focusing on the lower body, such as leg swings, lunges, and ankle rotations.
- Basic Rollerblading Techniques:
- Start with finding your balance by standing with your feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent.
- Practice gliding by pushing off with one foot and keeping the other foot slightly lifted.
- Learn how to stop by using the heel brake or dragging one foot behind the other.
- Practice turning by leaning your body in the direction you want to go and using your edges.
- Obstacle Course: Set up a small course with cones or other objects to navigate around. Practice using the techniques learned to maneuver through the course.
- Cool-down: End the lesson with a light jog or walk to gradually lower the heart rate and stretch the muscles again.
