Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create colorful ice cream cones using slime and practice basic money skills by pretending to sell their creations to family members or friends.
Materials and Prep
- Slime (any color or homemade)
- Paper cones (or make cones from paper)
- Play money (or homemade money using paper)
- Markers or crayons (to decorate the cones)
- Table or play area for setting up the "ice cream shop"
Before starting the lesson, prepare the slime and ensure you have enough space to create and play. It might be fun to set up a little shop area where the student can display their ice cream cones!
Activities
-
Create Ice Cream Cones:
The student will use slime to fill the paper cones, creating colorful and fun "ice cream." They can mix different colors of slime to make unique flavors!
-
Decorate the Shop:
Using markers or crayons, the student can decorate their play area or shop sign. They can write the name of their ice cream shop and draw pictures of their ice cream cones.
-
Role-Play Selling:
The student will pretend to sell their ice cream cones to family members or friends. They can practice using play money to "buy" and "sell" the cones, making it a fun experience!
-
Counting Money:
As they sell their cones, the student will practice counting the play money. They can learn how to give change and keep track of how much money they have earned!
Talking Points
- "Look at all the fun colors we can make with slime! What flavor do you want to create?"
- "Let's decorate our ice cream shop! What should we name it?"
- "Can you show me how you would sell your ice cream? What would you say to your customers?"
- "How much does each ice cream cone cost? Can you count the money for me?"
- "If someone gives you this much money, how much change do you need to give them?"
