Materials and Prep

  • Computer or tablet with internet access
  • Graphic design software (like Canva or Adobe Spark)
  • Research tools (websites, online encyclopedias, etc.)
  • Notebook and pen for brainstorming ideas
  • Access to travel magazines for inspiration

Before starting the lesson, ensure that the student is familiar with basic graphic design concepts and has access to the necessary software. Encourage them to think about a travel destination they are interested in exploring further.

Activities

  • Research and Choose a Destination:

The student will select a travel destination they find interesting and conduct research on its culture, history, and attractions. They will gather information that will be useful for their magazine page.

  • Create a Layout:

Using their graphic design software, the student will sketch out a layout for their magazine page. They will decide where to place images, text, and other elements to create a visually appealing design.

  • Write Engaging Content:

The student will write an article or description about their chosen destination, focusing on what makes it unique and worth visiting. They will practice their writing skills by crafting engaging and informative content.

  • Design the Magazine Page:

With their layout and content ready, the student will use the graphic design software to bring their magazine page to life. They will incorporate images, colors, and fonts that reflect the essence of their travel destination.

  • Present the Magazine Page:

Finally, the student will present their completed magazine page to a family member or friend, explaining their design choices and the significance of the destination they chose.
