Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of Block Blast, including how to create and manipulate blocks, and will have completed a fun project that showcases their creativity and understanding of block structures.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencils for sketching designs
  • Colored markers or crayons for decorating
  • Blocks (or any small items that can be stacked, like LEGO or building blocks)
  • Timer (optional, for timed challenges)

Before the lesson, make sure the student has a clear workspace and enough blocks to work with. Familiarize yourself with the basic concepts of building with blocks to guide the student effectively.

Activities

  • Design Your Structure

Have the student sketch a design of a structure they would like to build using blocks. Encourage them to think creatively and plan out their structure before starting to build.

  • Building Challenge

Set a timer for 15 minutes and challenge the student to build their design using the blocks. They can work on their own or compete against you to see who can build the most creative structure in the time allowed.

  • Decorate Your Creation

Once the structure is built, the student can use markers or crayons to decorate their blocks or create a backdrop for their structure. This adds a personal touch and enhances their creativity.

  • Presentation Time

Have the student present their structure to you, explaining their design choices and what inspired them. This helps develop their communication skills and boosts their confidence.
