Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basic mechanics of the Block Blast game, including strategies for building structures and how to effectively use resources to achieve their goals. The student will also learn how to think critically and solve problems creatively while having fun.

Materials and Prep

  • Access to the Block Blast game (on a computer or tablet)
  • Note-taking app or paper for jotting down strategies
  • Timer (optional, for timed challenges)

Before the lesson, ensure that the student has access to the game and is familiar with its basic controls. Encourage them to explore the game a little before diving into specific strategies.

Activities

  • Game Exploration:

    Let the student play the game for 20 minutes without any guidance. This will help them familiarize themselves with the game mechanics and controls. Ask them to note down any interesting features they discover.

  • Strategy Session:

    After the exploration, sit down together and discuss the different strategies they can use in the game. Encourage them to think about how they can build structures efficiently and use their resources wisely.

  • Timed Challenge:

    Set a timer for 10 minutes and challenge the student to build the tallest structure they can within that time. After the challenge, discuss what worked well and what could be improved.

  • Creative Design:

    Allow the student to design their dream structure in the game. This activity promotes creativity and helps them think about aesthetics as well as functionality.
