By the end of this lesson, you will be able to write a short paragraph about horses using descriptive language.

Materials and Prep

  • Pencil
  • Blank paper
  • Internet access (optional)

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Start by brainstorming words related to horses. Write down as many words as you can think of that describe horses. For example: strong, fast, majestic, etc.

  2. Choose three of your favorite words from the list and write a sentence for each word that describes a horse. Make sure to use proper punctuation and capitalization.

  3. Now, let's write a paragraph about horses using the sentences you created. Begin with an introductory sentence, include the three descriptive sentences, and end with a concluding sentence. Remember to use transition words like "first," "next," and "finally" to connect your ideas.

  4. Read your paragraph aloud and make any necessary revisions. Check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.

  5. If you have access to the internet, search for a picture of a horse and print it out. Paste your paragraph next to the picture to create a mini poster.
