Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will create a colorful construction paper collage using scissors and markers. They will learn to express their creativity through art and develop fine motor skills by cutting and drawing.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper (various colors)
- Child-safe scissors
- Washable markers
Before starting the lesson, make sure the scissors are safe for the child's use. Set up a clean workspace where the student can cut and draw freely without distractions.
Activities
- Colorful Shapes Collage:
Have the student cut out different shapes (circles, squares, triangles) from the construction paper. Once they have a variety of shapes, they can glue them together to create a fun collage!
- Animal Art:
Ask the student to choose their favorite animal and draw it using markers. They can then cut out the animal and create a scene on another piece of construction paper.
- Storytelling with Pictures:
Encourage the student to create a series of pictures that tell a short story. They can cut out characters and settings from construction paper and use markers to add details.
