Objective

By the end of this lesson, Jack will have a basic understanding of Ancient Egypt, including its culture, geography, and some key historical figures. He will also create a fun project that showcases what he has learned!

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Colored pencils or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A ruler (optional)
  • Access to a comfortable learning space

Before the lesson, make sure the learning space is clear and that all materials are easily accessible. You may want to brush up on some fun facts about Ancient Egypt to share with Jack!

Activities

  • Draw Your Own Hieroglyphics

    Jack will learn about hieroglyphics, the writing system of Ancient Egypt. He can create his own symbols to represent his name or a short message, and then share it with you!

  • Build a Pyramid

    Using paper, Jack can cut out triangles and glue them together to create a miniature pyramid. This activity will help him understand the structure and significance of pyramids in Ancient Egyptian culture.

  • Story Time: The Tale of King Tut

    Read a short story about King Tutankhamun, a famous young pharaoh. After the story, Jack can draw his favorite scene or character from the tale.

  • Ancient Egyptian Fashion Show

    Jack can create a simple costume using paper or fabric scraps to represent Ancient Egyptian clothing. He can then put on a mini fashion show to showcase his creation!
