Objective

By the end of this lesson, Maisie-Jane will be able to identify nouns in sentences and use them effectively in her own writing. She will understand the different types of nouns and how they can enhance her storytelling.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Colorful markers or crayons
  • Whiteboard or large piece of paper (optional for visual aid)

Before starting the lesson, ensure that Maisie-Jane understands what a word is and is comfortable with basic sentence structure.

Activities

  1. Noun Hunt:

Maisie-Jane will go on a "noun hunt" around the house or outside. She will write down as many nouns as she can find, such as "dog," "tree," and "book." This will help her see how nouns are all around us.

  2. Noun Collage:

Using the colorful markers or crayons, Maisie-Jane will create a collage of her favorite nouns. She can draw pictures representing each noun and label them. This will allow her to express her creativity while learning.

  3. Noun Storytime:

Maisie-Jane will write a short story using at least ten different nouns. She can choose a theme she loves, like adventure or fantasy, and incorporate the nouns into her narrative. This will enhance her writing skills and reinforce her understanding of nouns.
