Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of homeschooling and will be able to express their feelings and expectations about their first day of homeschool. They will create a personalized worksheet that reflects their thoughts and goals for the school year.
Materials and Prep
- My First Day of Homeschool 2025 Twinkl information worksheet (printed or digital)
- Pencils and colored markers
- Notebook or sketchbook for brainstorming
- Timer (optional, for timed activities)
- Quiet space for reflection and creativity
Before the lesson, review the Twinkl worksheet to understand its structure and content. Prepare a comfortable workspace for the student to engage in creative activities.
Activities
- Worksheet Exploration: Start by reviewing the Twinkl worksheet together. Discuss each section and what it means. Encourage the student to ask questions and share their thoughts.
- Feelings Chart: Create a feelings chart where the student can draw or write about how they feel about starting homeschool. They can use colors to represent different emotions.
- Goal Setting: Have the student write down three goals they want to achieve during their homeschool year. These can be academic, personal, or fun-related goals.
- Creative Drawing: Ask the student to illustrate their ideal homeschool day. They can include their favorite subjects, activities, and even a dream classroom setup!
- Share and Reflect: Set aside time for the student to share their worksheet and drawings with you. Have a discussion about what they are most excited about and any concerns they might have.
