By the end of this lesson, Zakariah will expand his vocabulary by learning new words, understanding their meanings, and using them in sentences. He will also engage in creative activities that make learning fun and memorable.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook or paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Access to a dictionary (online or physical)
  • Colorful markers or crayons

Before the lesson, it’s helpful for Zakariah to think about words he finds interesting or challenging. This will make the lesson more engaging and personalized.

Activities

  • Word Hunt: Zakariah will choose five interesting words from a dictionary. He will write down their meanings, synonyms, and antonyms, and then create a colorful word map for each word.
  • Creative Sentences: Using the five words from the word hunt, Zakariah will write a short story or a poem. The goal is to use each word at least once in a fun and imaginative way.
  • Vocabulary Charades: Zakariah will act out the meanings of the five words without speaking while you guess the words. This activity will help reinforce his understanding of the words through movement and creativity.
