Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the life cycle of a caterpillar and its transformation into a butterfly.

Materials and Prep

  • A caterpillar picture book
  • Construction paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Read the caterpillar picture book together.
  2. Discuss the different stages of a caterpillar's life cycle - egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly.
  3. Draw and cut out the different stages of the life cycle using construction paper.
  4. Glue the stages in the correct order on a separate sheet of paper.
  5. Color the caterpillar and butterfly stages.
  6. Display the completed life cycle artwork.
