Objective

By the end of this lesson, Sadie will have a fun and educational experience learning about the Big Goose, its habitat, behavior, and the importance of waterfowl in our ecosystem. She will also engage in creative activities that reinforce her understanding of these concepts.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen/pencil for notes and drawings
  • Access to a computer or tablet for research (if available)
  • Art supplies (crayons, markers, or colored pencils)
  • Outdoor space (if possible) for observation and activities
  • Printed pictures of geese and their habitats (can be drawn if printing is not available)

Before the lesson, it would be helpful to know some basic facts about geese, such as their diets, migration patterns, and social behavior.

Activities

  • Goose Observation:

If possible, take a walk to a nearby park or pond where geese might be present. Observe their behavior and note down what you see, like how they interact with each other and their surroundings.

  • Research Project:

Spend some time researching different types of geese. Create a mini-report or poster that includes interesting facts, pictures, and drawings of the geese you learn about.

  • Goose Art:

Using the art supplies, create your own version of a goose. You can make it realistic or let your imagination run wild! Think about what colors and patterns you want to use.

  • Story Time:

Write a short story featuring a goose as the main character. What adventures does the goose go on? What challenges does it face? Let your creativity shine!
