Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand basic concepts about our planet Earth.
Materials and Prep
- Globe or world map
- Printed pictures of different landscapes (mountains, oceans, deserts, etc.)
- Printed pictures of animals and plants
- Coloring materials
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Introduction to Earth (5 minutes)
Show the globe or world map to the student and explain that Earth is our home. Point out the different continents and oceans. - Land and Water (10 minutes)
Show the pictures of different landscapes and discuss with the student. Ask questions like "What do you see in this picture?" and "Is it land or water?". Let the student color the pictures. - Plants and Animals (10 minutes)
Show the pictures of animals and plants. Discuss with the student what they are and where they live. Ask questions like "What does this animal eat?" and "Where do plants grow?". Let the student color the pictures. - Review (5 minutes)
Ask the student questions about what they learned. Show them the pictures again and ask them to identify the different elements.
