Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of Agwat Teknolohiya (Water Technology), including its importance in sustainable living and how it can be applied in their everyday life. They will also explore innovative ways to conserve and manage water resources effectively.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook and pen for notes
  • Access to a computer or tablet with internet for research
  • Water sources for observation (e.g., tap water, rainwater, etc.)
  • Measuring cups for experiments
  • Containers for collecting water samples

Before the lesson, ensure that the student understands basic water cycle concepts and has a general idea about environmental issues related to water scarcity.

Activities

  • Water Observation Walk:

Take a walk around the neighborhood to observe different water sources. The student will note how water is used in various settings, such as gardens, parks, and homes, and discuss the importance of each source.

  • Water Conservation Challenge:

Challenge the student to come up with a list of ten ways they can conserve water at home. They can implement one of these methods for a week and track the results in their notebook.

  • DIY Water Filtration Experiment:

Using common materials found at home, the student will create a simple water filtration system. They will observe how different materials affect the clarity of water and discuss the importance of clean water access.

  • Research Project:

The student will choose a specific aspect of Agwat Teknolohiya to research further, such as irrigation systems, rainwater harvesting, or desalination. They will present their findings in a creative format, such as a poster or a digital presentation.
