Objective

By the end of this lesson, Nadia will be able to create a balanced and appealing weekly menu plan, incorporating her favorite foods while considering nutritional value and variety.

Materials and Prep

  • Pencil and paper or a digital device for note-taking
  • A list of Nadia's favorite foods and meals
  • Access to nutritional information (can be found online or in a cookbook)
  • Basic knowledge of food groups (fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, dairy)

Activities

  • Favorite Foods Brainstorm:

    Nadia will write down her top 10 favorite foods. This will help her identify what she enjoys and can incorporate into her menu plan.

  • Food Group Exploration:

    Using her list of favorite foods, Nadia will categorize each food into its respective food group. This will help her understand the nutritional balance in her meals.

  • Weekly Menu Creation:

    Nadia will create a weekly menu plan that includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. She will aim for a variety of foods from each food group throughout the week.

  • Cooking Challenge:

    Nadia will choose one meal from her menu to prepare. This will allow her to put her planning into action and enjoy the fruits of her labor!
