Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about history by exploring different historical periods while playing in a tent.

Materials and Prep

  • A tent or blanket to create a play area
  • Pillows or cushions for comfort
  • Optional: Flashlight for added fun
  • Read or research about different historical periods beforehand

Activities

  • Create a tent or fort using a blanket and pillows. Make it comfortable and cozy.
  • Decide on a historical period to explore, such as Ancient Egypt, Medieval Times, or the American Revolution.
  • Immerse yourself in the chosen historical period by dressing up in costumes or using props related to that era.
  • Inside the tent, imagine you are living in that historical period. Discuss what life would be like during that time.
  • Act out scenarios or play games that reflect the culture and events of the chosen historical period.
  • Use the flashlight to create shadows on the tent walls, adding an element of mystery and excitement.
  • After playing, reflect on what you learned and discuss any new discoveries or insights.
