Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a short story based on an episode of Dora the Explorer.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencils or crayons
  • Access to an episode of Dora the Explorer

No additional preparation required.

Activities

  1. Watch an episode of Dora the Explorer with the student.
  2. Discuss the main characters, setting, and plot of the episode.
  3. Ask the student to choose their favorite part of the episode.
  4. Encourage the student to think about what they would do if they were in Dora's shoes.
  5. Guide the student to write a short story based on their chosen favorite part, using their imagination to continue the adventure.
  6. Allow the student to illustrate their story.
  7. Review the story together, helping the student with spelling and grammar if needed.
