Objective

By the end of this lesson, Ezra will be introduced to the story of Christopher Columbus, learning about exploration and adventure in a fun and engaging way. He will gain a basic understanding of who Columbus was and the idea of discovering new places.

Activities

  • Storytime Adventure:

    Begin with a short, simple story about Christopher Columbus. Use expressive tones and gestures to make the story exciting. Focus on how Columbus wanted to find new places and meet new people.

  • Map Exploration:

    Show Ezra a simple map. Point to different areas and say, "This is where Columbus traveled!" Encourage him to point and explore the map with you.

  • Ship Craft:

    Using colorful paper, help Ezra create a simple ship. Ask him to decorate it with crayons or markers. Talk about how Columbus sailed on a ship to find new lands.

  • Imaginative Play:

    Use small toys or figurines to act out the adventure. Pretend to sail the ship and discover new lands together. Ask Ezra questions like, "What do you see?" to encourage his imagination.
