Materials and Prep

  • Fresh salmon fillet (about 200g)
  • Vermicelli noodles (100g)

  • Garlic (2 cloves)
  • Ginger (1 inch)

Before starting the lesson, it’s important to wash hands and ensure that the cooking area is clean. Discuss the importance of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen.

Activities

  • Ingredient Exploration:

Have the student explore each ingredient. Discuss where they come from, their nutritional benefits, and how they contribute to the dish. This can include looking up facts about salmon, vegetables, and noodles.

  • Cooking Demonstration:

Guide the student through a cooking demonstration. Show them how to prepare the salmon, cook the vermicelli, and sauté the vegetables. Allow them to take the lead while you assist and provide tips.

  • Creative Plating:

Once the dish is prepared, encourage the student to plate the food creatively. Discuss how presentation affects the dining experience and allow them to experiment with different garnishes.

  • Taste Test:

After cooking, have a taste test session where the student can critique their own dish. Discuss what they like and what they might change next time. This encourages self-reflection and improvement.
