Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore the themes and adventures of the Magic Tree House books, using their imagination to create their own magical stories and characters.

Materials and Prep

  • Magic Tree House books (or a specific title if available)
  • Paper
  • Colored pencils or crayons
  • Imagination!

Before the lesson, make sure to read a short section of a Magic Tree House book to the student to spark their interest and creativity.

Activities

  • Story Time Adventure:

Read a chapter from a Magic Tree House book together. Discuss the characters and the setting. Ask the student questions about what they think will happen next!

  • Create Your Own Adventure:

After reading, encourage the student to come up with their own adventure! Ask them questions like, "If you could go anywhere, where would you go?" and "What magical creature would you meet?"

  • Draw Your Characters:

Have the student draw their favorite character from the story or their own created character. Encourage them to use lots of colors and to share their drawing with you!

  • Magic Tree House Role Play:

Act out a scene from the book or their own adventure. Use props from around the house to make it fun and exciting! Let your imagination run wild!
