Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to describe different types of dinosaurs, understand the concept of time travel through the Magic Tree House, and engage in creative storytelling inspired by their favorite dinosaur adventures.
Materials and Prep
- Magic Tree House book about dinosaurs (if available)
- Paper and crayons or markers
- Imagination and curiosity!
Before the lesson, it is helpful to read the Magic Tree House book about dinosaurs together if possible. This will provide a foundation for the activities.
Activities
-
Dinosaur Drawing: Have the student draw their favorite dinosaur from the book or invent their own dinosaur. Encourage them to think about what color it is, what it eats, and where it lives.
-
Time Travel Adventure: Pretend to be Jack and Annie from the Magic Tree House. Have the student close their eyes and imagine traveling back in time to the age of dinosaurs. Ask them to describe what they see and hear.
-
Dinosaur Storytelling: Ask the student to create a short story about their dinosaur. They can include adventures, friends, and what happens when they meet Jack and Annie. Help them write it down or illustrate it.
-
Dinosaur Movement Game: Play a game where you both pretend to be different dinosaurs. Move around the room making dinosaur sounds and movements. Can you stomp like a T-Rex or glide like a Pterodactyl?
