Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and locate different countries on a world map using Lego bricks.

Materials and Prep

  • Lego bricks in various colors
  • World map or globe
  • Printed country flags
  • Index cards
  • Pencil

Prior knowledge required: Basic understanding of different countries and their locations.

Activities

  1. Introduction: Show the student a world map or globe and discuss the concept of geography and the importance of knowing different countries.
  2. Lego Country Challenge: Provide the student with a set of Lego bricks in various colors. Ask them to choose a country they are interested in and recreate its flag using the Lego bricks.
  3. Identifying Countries: Display a world map or globe and ask the student to locate the country they chose using their Lego flag as a reference. Encourage them to explore other countries as well.
  4. Flag Quiz: Prepare index cards with the names of different countries and their flags. Show the student a flag and ask them to match it with the correct country.
  5. Country Facts: Provide interesting facts about different countries and have the student guess which country it refers to. Use the world map or globe to show the location of each country.
