Hello Explorer! Today we're going on an adventure to learn about some of the most colorful and chatty birds in the world: Parrots!

What are Parrots?

Parrots are birds known for their bright feathers and strong, curved beaks. They are super smart!

Rainbow Feathers!

Parrots come in almost every color you can imagine! Look at these amazing colors:

  • Red (like a Scarlet Macaw)
  • Blue (like a Hyacinth Macaw)
  • Green (like an Amazon Parrot)
  • Yellow (like a Sun Conure)

Activity: Can you draw a parrot using lots of bright colors?

Where Do Parrots Live?

Most parrots live in warm places, especially tropical rainforests where there are lots of trees. It's like a jungle gym for them!

"Polly Wants a Cracker?" - Parrot Talk!

One of the coolest things about parrots is that many can copy sounds they hear, including human words! They are great mimics.

Activity: Let's listen to some parrot sounds! (Parent supervision recommended for online searches). Can you try squawking like a parrot?

What's for Lunch?

Parrots love to eat yummy things they find in the forest:

  • Seeds
  • Fruits (like berries and mangoes)
  • Nuts
  • Sometimes flowers!

Activity: Can you find any parrot foods in your kitchen? Maybe some seeds or a piece of fruit?

Fun Parrot Craft!

Let's make our own parrot! You can trace your hand on colored paper. The thumb can be the head, and the fingers can be the feathers! Draw an eye and a beak, and decorate it!

Wrap Up!

Wow, we learned so much about parrots! Aren't they amazing birds? Remember their bright colors, chatty calls, rainforest homes, and yummy food!
