Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and apply various English grammar rules in the context of singing.
Materials and Prep
- Lyrics of a song of the student's choice
- Pen or pencil
- Notebook or paper
Activities
-
Choose a song that the student enjoys singing and provide them with the lyrics.
Ask the student to read through the lyrics and identify any grammar mistakes they can find. Encourage them to pay attention to verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, pronoun usage, and sentence structure.
-
Once the student has identified the grammar mistakes, discuss each mistake together. Explain the correct grammar rule and how it should be applied in the context of the song.
For example, if the student identifies a verb tense error, explain the correct tense and discuss why it is more appropriate in that particular line of the song.
-
Have the student rewrite the corrected lyrics in their notebook or on a separate piece of paper.
Encourage them to pay attention to the overall flow and rhythm of the song while making the necessary grammar corrections.
-
Once the student has rewritten the corrected lyrics, ask them to sing the song using the new grammar rules they have learned.
Provide feedback and guidance on pronunciation, enunciation, and overall performance.
