Welcome, Farmer Sacha! Let's Explore Stardew Valley Skills!

Today, we'll see how playing Stardew Valley can teach us cool things about the real world!

Activity 1: Parsnip Profits! (Math Fun)

In Stardew Valley, you buy seeds and sell crops to make money. Let's practice!

  • Parsnip seeds cost 20g each from Pierre's.
  • A harvested Parsnip sells for 35g.
  • If you buy 5 Parsnip seeds, how much does it cost? (5 x 20g = ?)
  • If you sell all 5 harvested Parsnips, how much money do you make? (5 x 35g = ?)
  • What is your profit? (Total Selling Price - Total Cost = ?)

Try this with other crops like Cauliflower (Seeds: 80g, Sells for: 175g)! Use paper or a calculator if needed.

Activity 2: Design Your Dream Farm Corner! (Planning Power)

Grab your paper and crayons! Think about how you arrange things on your Stardew farm. Draw a small section of your ideal farm. Where would you put:

  • A small patch of crops?
  • A coop for chickens?
  • A path?
  • Maybe a scarecrow?

Think about why you placed things there. Is it easy to water crops? Are the animals protected?

Activity 3: From Pixels to Plants! (Science Explorer)

Choose one crop you like to grow in Stardew Valley (like Strawberries, Corn, or Pumpkins). Using books or the internet (ask for help if needed!), can you find out:

  • What season does it grow in real life? (Does it match the game?)
  • How long does it *really* take to grow?
  • What does the real plant look like? (Maybe draw it!)

We can talk about what plants need: sun, water, and soil!

Activity 4: Friends in Pelican Town (Community Corner)

In Stardew Valley, you can give gifts and help the villagers. Why is being friends with people like Linus, Penny, or Lewis important in the game? (Think about quests, recipes, heart events!)

How is that similar to being helpful and kind to people in our own families and communities?

Let's talk about one kind thing you could do for someone this week, just like helping a Pelican Town resident!

Great job today, Farmer Sacha! You used math, planning, science, and thinking about community - all inspired by Stardew Valley!
