Before starting the lesson, make sure you have read the book about sandcastles and have the materials ready for the activities.
Activities
- Read a Book about Sandcastles: Start the lesson by reading a book about sandcastles together. Pay attention to the words and pictures in the book.
- Create a Sandcastle Collage: Using the construction paper, markers or crayons, scissors, and glue or tape, create a collage of a sandcastle. Cut out different shapes for the castle, towers, windows, and flags. Glue or tape them together to make your sandcastle collage.
- Label the Parts: Use the markers or crayons to label the different parts of your sandcastle collage. Write the names of the elements such as castle, towers, windows, and flags.
- Practice Reading: Practice reading the labels on your sandcastle collage. Point to each word as you read it out loud. Ask a family member to listen and give you feedback.
