First Grade Talking Points
- "Today, we are going to read a story about Minecraft. Who here likes Minecraft?"
- "When we read a story, we need to pay attention to the words and pictures to understand what is happening. Can you think of any other stories you have read or heard?"
- "As we read, I will ask you questions about the story. This will help us understand what is happening and remember the important parts. Are you ready to answer some questions?"
- "Sometimes, we can predict what might happen next in a story. It's like guessing. Can you think of a time when you made a guess about something?"
- "After we finish reading, I want you to tell me the main events of the story. What were the most important things that happened?"
- "Now, I want you to use your imagination and draw a picture of your favorite part of the story. Then, write a sentence or two describing it. Can you do that?"
- "Finally, we will review the story together. If there are any words or parts that you didn't understand, we can talk about them. Do you have any questions about the story?"
