Lesson: Colorful Friends Story Time!

Welcome, T! Let's Get Our Brains Ready! (5 minutes)

We're going to use our amazing listening ears and our super smart brains today! Let's do a quick warm-up to make our brains sparkle!

  1. Calming Breaths: Let's take three big, slow breaths together. Inhale through your nose like you're smelling a yummy flower... and exhale through your mouth like you're blowing out birthday candles. (Repeat 3 times)
  2. Quick Look (Shichida-Inspired Flashcards): I have some colorful pictures! I'm going to show them to you quickly. Just look and let your brain remember!
    • Show the 'Red Ball' card quickly.
    • Show the 'Blue Bird' card quickly.
    • Show the 'Yellow Sun' card quickly.
    • Show the 'Green Tree' card quickly.

Story Time: "The Colorful Day Adventure!" (10 minutes)

Now, it's time for a special story. Listen carefully, T, because I'm going to ask you some questions after!

(Parent/Teacher: Use an engaging voice. Show the corresponding picture card when each colored item is mentioned.)

Once upon a time, there was a little Red Ball. (Show Red Ball card). The Red Ball was a little bit bouncy and a little bit sad. "I want to play!" sighed the Red Ball.

Suddenly, the bright Yellow Sun peeked out from behind a cloud. (Show Yellow Sun card). "Hello, Red Ball! It's a beautiful day!" smiled the Yellow Sun.

Then, a happy Blue Bird flew down from a tall Green Tree. (Show Blue Bird card, then Green Tree card). "Chirp, chirp! Hello, Red Ball! Hello, Yellow Sun!" sang the Blue Bird. "What are you doing?"

"I want to play!" said the Red Ball.

"Let's play together!" chirped the Blue Bird. The Blue Bird flew around, and the Red Ball bounced high! The Yellow Sun shone warmly on the Green Tree, watching them play.

They all had a very colorful and happy day playing together. The end!

Let's Talk About the Story! (5-7 minutes)

That was a fun story, T! Now, let's see what you remember. Are you ready?

  1. "T, who was red in the story?" (Listen for "ball" or pointing to the red ball card. Provide gentle hints if needed: "Was it a bird? Or a ball?")
  2. "And what did the blue bird do?" (Listen for "flew," "chirped," "played," or "sang." Simplify by asking "What did the blue bird say?" or "Did the blue bird run or fly?")
  3. "Can you tell me, who was yellow and bright?" (Listen for "sun." Point to the sky or sun card if needed.)
  4. "What color was the big tree where the bird lived?" (Listen for "green.")

(Parent/Teacher: Praise all attempts. If T struggles, re-read the relevant part of the story or use the picture cards as visual cues. Keep it light and fun!)

Creative Fun & Wrap-Up (5 minutes)

  1. Story Picture Chain (Linking Memory - Shichida Inspired): Let's try to remember the story with our pictures! "First, there was a Red Ball... then the Yellow Sun came out... then the Blue Bird flew from the Green Tree!" (Lay cards in order if helpful).
  2. Quick Doodle (Optional): Would you like to draw one of our colorful friends from the story? Maybe the red ball or the blue bird? (Provide paper and crayons if desired).

You did such a super job listening and answering questions today, T! You have amazing listening ears! High five!
