No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Start by discussing with your child what they already know about bugs. Ask questions like "What bugs have you seen before?" and "What do you know about bugs?" Write down their responses on a piece of paper.
- Read a bug book or bug-related reading material together. Encourage your child to follow along and point out any interesting bug facts or pictures they come across.
- After reading, ask your child to draw their favorite bug or bugs they learned about from the book. They can also use bug pictures or toy bugs as references if available.
- Help your child write a short sentence or two describing their bug drawing. For example, "I drew a ladybug. Ladybugs have red and black spots."
- Have your child share their bug drawing and description with you or other family members. Encourage them to use their reading skills to explain what they learned about the bug.
