Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe key characters and events from the game Breath of the Wild, and apply reading comprehension skills to analyze and discuss the storyline.
Materials and Prep
- A computer or gaming console with access to the game Breath of the Wild
- Paper and pencils for note-taking and writing
- Access to a dictionary or online dictionary resources
Activities
- Introduction to the Game (10 minutes)
Discuss with the student what Breath of the Wild is and what they find interesting about it. Ask them to briefly describe the game's setting and main character. - Character Analysis (20 minutes)
Select one or two characters from the game and ask the student to describe their physical appearance, personality traits, and role in the story. Encourage them to use descriptive language and provide examples from the game. - Plot Summary (15 minutes)
Have the student summarize the main events of the game's storyline. Encourage them to use sequencing words such as "first," "next," "then," and "finally" to organize their thoughts. - Reading Comprehension Questions (15 minutes)
Create a list of reading comprehension questions related to the game. Ask the student to read the questions and answer them based on their understanding of the game's plot and characters. Discuss their answers together. - Writing Activity (20 minutes)
Ask the student to imagine they are a character from the game and write a short diary entry or letter describing their adventures. Encourage them to use descriptive language and include details about their surroundings and emotions.
