Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to write a creative story using Minecraft as inspiration.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencils or pens
  • Computer or tablet with Minecraft installed (optional)

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Brainstorming Minecraft Story Ideas

Start by discussing Minecraft with your student. Ask them about their favorite aspects of the game, such as the different biomes, characters, or adventures they have had. Encourage them to think creatively and come up with a unique story idea based on Minecraft.

  2. Planning the Story

Once the student has chosen a story idea, help them plan their story using a graphic organizer. They can create a simple diagram with boxes for the beginning, middle, and end of the story. In each box, they should write a sentence or two describing what will happen in that part of the story.

  3. Writing the Story

Using the graphic organizer as a guide, have the student write their Minecraft story. Encourage them to include descriptive language, action, and dialogue to make the story engaging. Remind them to use proper punctuation and capitalization.

  4. Illustrating the Story

After completing the written story, have the student illustrate their story using drawings or digital art. They can create visuals of their favorite scenes or characters from the story.

  5. Sharing the Story

Give the student an opportunity to share their Minecraft story with others. They can read it aloud to a family member or create a video recording of themselves reading the story. Encourage them to be proud of their work and celebrate their creativity.
