Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create their own original Five Nights at Freddy's original character (OC) using visual arts techniques and demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for the art style in the game.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper or sketchbook
  • Pencils, erasers, and colored pencils or markers
  • Reference images of Five Nights at Freddy's characters
  • Access to the Five Nights at Freddy's game or online images

Before starting the lesson, the student should have a basic understanding of the Five Nights at Freddy's game and its characters. They should also be familiar with basic drawing techniques.

Activities

  1. Introduction to Five Nights at Freddy's art style: Show the student various images of Five Nights at Freddy's characters and discuss the art style. Talk about the use of dark colors, exaggerated features, and creepy elements that make the characters unique.
  2. Creating the OC: Instruct the student to brainstorm and sketch their own original Five Nights at Freddy's character. Encourage them to think about the character's appearance, personality, and backstory. They can use the reference images and their own imagination to create a unique design.
  3. Refining the sketch: Once the student has a rough sketch of their OC, guide them in refining the details and proportions. Teach them techniques such as shading, highlighting, and adding texture to bring their character to life.
  4. Coloring the OC: After the sketch is complete, the student can use colored pencils or markers to add color to their OC. Encourage them to experiment with different color schemes and to consider the mood and personality of their character when choosing colors.
  5. Presenting the OC: Give the student an opportunity to present their OC to the class or family members. They can explain the design choices they made and share the backstory of their character.
