Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe various animals in Spanish.
Materials and Prep
- Whiteboard or paper
- Markers or colored pencils
- Printed pictures of animals
- Spanish-English animal flashcards (optional)
No prior knowledge of Spanish is required.
Activities
- Introduce the topic by asking the student about their favorite animals and discussing them in English.
- Show the printed pictures of animals and ask the student to name them in English.
- Write the names of the animals on the whiteboard or paper.
- Explain that you will now learn how to say those animal names in Spanish.
- Go through each animal one by one and teach the Spanish word for it. Show the picture and say the word aloud, encouraging the student to repeat after you.
- Practice pronunciation by playing a game of "Guess the Animal". Describe an animal in Spanish and have the student guess which animal it is.
- Use the flashcards (if available) to reinforce learning. Show a flashcard with an animal picture and ask the student to say the corresponding Spanish word.
- Encourage the student to draw their favorite animal and write its name in Spanish next to it.
- Review all the animal names in Spanish before ending the lesson.
