Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to spell and recognize words related to the guitar.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencil
- Guitar picture or toy guitar (optional)
Activities
-
Introduce the guitar to the student by showing a picture or a toy guitar if available. Discuss its shape, strings, and how it is played.
Ask the student to spell the word "guitar" aloud and write it down. Encourage them to break it down into sounds (phonetic spelling) if needed.
-
Brainstorm with the student and create a list of words related to the guitar. For example: strings, music, pick, strum, fret, sound, etc.
Have the student choose one word from the list and spell it aloud while writing it down. Repeat this step for a few different words.
-
Play a spelling game where you say a word related to the guitar and the student spells it out loud. They can use the paper and pencil to write it down if they need to.
Alternate roles and let the student give you a word to spell as well.
