Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand a story related to dress up and use your imagination to create your own dress-up characters.

Materials and Prep

  • Dress-up clothes (hats, scarves, accessories, etc.)
  • Paper and crayons/markers
  • A selection of children's books about dress up

Activities

  1. Read a Dress-up Story: Start by reading a fun and engaging story about dress up. Encourage the student to listen carefully and ask questions if they don't understand something.
  2. Act out the Story: After reading the story, have the student choose a character from the book and use the dress-up clothes to act out the story. Encourage them to use their imagination and pretend to be the character.
  3. Create a Dress-up Character: Provide the student with paper and crayons/markers. Ask them to draw and color their own dress-up character. Encourage them to think about what kind of clothes and accessories their character would wear.
  4. Describe the Dress-up Character: Once the drawing is complete, ask the student to describe their dress-up character using words. Help them write down the description, focusing on adjectives that describe the character's appearance and personality.
