Lesson: My Amazing Lebanese Cedar Tree!
Materials Needed:
- 1 brown paper tube (like from a toilet paper roll) OR a small piece of brown construction paper
- 1 piece of green construction paper
- Glue stick or tape
Lesson Steps (2 Minutes)
Step 1: Introduction (30 seconds)
(Teacher): "Hello! Today, we are going on a quick trip to a country called Lebanon! Lebanon is famous for its beautiful, strong trees called Cedars. They are so special, they are even on the country's flag. Let's build our very own Cedar tree right now!"
Step 2: Build the Tree (1 minute, 30 seconds)
(Teacher): "First, stand up your brown paper tube. This is the strong trunk of our tree! Now, take your green paper and let's rip it into a few flat pieces. Ripping is fun!" (Guide the child to rip the green paper into 3-4 strips or shapes).
"Great job! Cedar trees have layers that look like green steps going up the trunk. Let’s glue our green paper pieces onto our trunk. We'll start near the bottom and add another piece a little higher up." (Help the child glue or tape the green paper pieces onto the brown tube, creating a layered effect).
"Look at that! You just built a beautiful Cedar of Lebanon! You can display it proudly to show what you learned today."
