Materials and Prep

  • Writing materials (paper, pencils, crayons)
  • Printed horse pictures or magazines with horse images

Activities

  1. Introduce the topic of horses and ask the student what they already know about them. Write down their responses on a piece of paper or a whiteboard.

  2. Read a book or an article about horses together. Encourage the student to ask questions and discuss the content as you read.

  3. After reading, ask the student to choose a favorite horse picture or find one online. Have them describe the horse using adjectives and write a short paragraph about it.

  4. Play a vocabulary game using horse-related words. Write the words on separate cards and place them face down. Take turns flipping a card and asking the student to define the word or use it in a sentence.
