  • Blank paper or a notebook

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Magical Addition: Write down a number on a piece of paper. Ask your student to think of another number and write it down. Then, together, perform the addition operation by adding the two numbers and write down the result. Make it fun by using magical words like "hocus pocus" when adding the numbers.
  2. Subtraction Spell: Write down a number on a piece of paper. Ask your student to think of a smaller number and write it down. Then, together, perform the subtraction operation by subtracting the smaller number from the larger one and write down the result. Encourage your student to say "abracadabra" when subtracting the numbers.
