Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and describe various objects related to the outside environment, while improving their language skills.
Materials and Prep
- Pictures or flashcards of objects found outside (e.g. tree, flower, bird, sun)
- Blank paper and crayons
Activities
- Outdoor Scavenger Hunt: Take the toddler outside and go on a scavenger hunt to find objects in the environment. Encourage them to use their words to describe what they see.
- Object Identification: Show the toddler pictures or flashcards of objects found outside and ask them to identify each one. Prompt them to describe the object using simple words.
- Draw and Describe: Give the toddler a blank piece of paper and crayons. Ask them to draw their favorite thing they saw outside and then describe it to you using their words.
