Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a manga character profile collector's card, incorporating elements of writing and creativity.

Materials and Prep

  • Blank index cards or cardstock
  • Pencils, erasers, and colored pencils/markers

Prior knowledge of basic character development and some familiarity with manga art style would be helpful.

Activities

  1. Introduce the concept of a manga character profile collector's card and show examples.
  2. Discuss the key elements of a character profile, such as name, age, appearance, personality, and special abilities.
  3. Brainstorm and create a unique manga character together, filling in the details of their profile.
  4. Guide the student in sketching the character on the blank index card or cardstock.
  5. Encourage the student to use their imagination and add color and details to the character's design.
  6. Once the drawing is complete, have the student write a short paragraph describing the character's background story.
