Usually, we ask: "HOW did I get here?" (the physical mechanism) and "WHY am I here?" (the purpose). Today, we’re diving into the ultimate cosmic mystery: Did the universe begin with a massive expansion of space and time, a divine command, or perhaps both?

  • Option A (The Conflict Model): They are completely incompatible; you must choose one.
  • Option B (The Two Books / Independence Model): Science reads the "Book of Nature" (How); Faith reads the "Book of Scripture" (Why). They don't overlap.
  • Option C (The Integration Model): God used the Big Bang as the mechanism to bring the physical universe into being.

Summary & Discussion

Review the main takeaway: Science gives us the lens to look at mechanism; Theology gives us the mirror to look at meaning.
